Toledo Jeep Fest, Columbia Gas partner to pack 400 meals for northwest Ohio kids

Toledo Jeep Fest isn’t just an event to show off all things Jeep. Organizers and one of the event sponsors, Columbia Gas, wanted to make sure a charitable aspect was incorporated as well.

According to WTOL 11, the groups partnered with Connecting Kids to Meals to put together weekend food packs before the start of school next week.

“That’s what we wanted to do,” Columbia Gas Public Affairs Manager Cheri Pastula said. “When we heard about the work that they are doing to feed so many kids in northwest Ohio, our employees jumped at the chance to be able to help out, volunteer and help support those kids to make sure they have food in their homes.”

After all the meals were packed, volunteers loaded them into Jeeps to be dropped off at the Kent and Lagrange Branch libraries.

Free fun for kids at Toledo Jeep Fest

Jeeps are about to take over the streets of downtown Toledo as this year’s edition of Toledo Jeep Fest hits high gear tomorrow. While most of the event focuses on the iconic vehicle, there will also be plenty of fun activities for the “junior Jeepers,” according to 13abc. Festival Park and the new upper-level space at Imagination Station will be transformed into Kid’s Zone this weekend.

“I think this last year has been so difficult for so many people, especially the kids who have been in and out of school,” says Amy Mohr, Senior Information Officer at the science center. “This will give them a chance to hang out with other kids and have a lot of fun. But it also encourages learning.”

The theme for this year’s Kid’s Zone is construction.

The Rouen 4-Miler Run & 1 Mile Walk hosted by Run Toledo set to take place on Sunday with a walk option starting at the same time. Come celebrate the active Jeep lifestyle with this unique run/walk through Downtown Toledo, and enjoy the swag that comes with it for the whole year.
