Organizers cancel 2020 Toledo Jeep Fest due to COVID-19 concerns

TOLEDO (WTVG) – Officials with the Toledo Jeep Fest have announced the 2020 event will be canceled due to concerns around the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a statement released to 13abc, the Board of Directors unanimously decided to cancel the event, scheduled for August 7-9 in and around downtown Toledo.

Organizers cancel Jeep Fest 2020

Having already devastated many businesses and workers, the coronavirus claimed a new victim — the 2020 Toledo Jeep Fest, which was expected to draw thousands of visitors to downtown Toledo the weekend of Aug. 7-9 and give the city a huge economic shot in the arm.

The popular event, which concluded its third edition last August and drew 70,000 people including visitors from 27 states, was officially canceled Saturday by organizers who had been planning the event since September but could find no way to stage it safely with the pandemic likely to still be a deadly threat three months hence.

As the world responds to the coronavirus, the Toledo Jeep® Fest (TJF) leadership team would like to express its concern for all who are affected by this pandemic. The health and well-being of our event attendees, partners and volunteers is our top priority.

We regret to announce that this year’s Toledo Jeep Fest weekend is canceled in the hopes of preventing further spread of COVID-19.

Thank you to the countless volunteers, partners and sponsors who spent many hours preparing for this major event. The level of commitment and dedication to Toledo Jeep Fest – an award-winning festival drawing nationwide crowds of Jeep enthusiasts to the City of Toledo – HOME of the Jeep – is astonishing. And, rest assured: Toledo Jeep Fest will be back in 2021 to celebrate the 80th anniversary and the rich history shared by Toledo and Jeep.

If you registered vehicles for the parade, purchased a vendor space, etc, those funds will be rolled over to participation in the 2021 event.
